Cross-platform mobile app development
For businesses that need to be useful in the palm of a hand: I build mobile apps from a single codebase that feel native on iOS and Android — without paying for two development projects.
What's included
One project, every pocket. Every mobile engagement ships with:
- A platform decision you can trust: native, cross-platform, or installable web app — chosen for your users, not for fashion
- One codebase targeting iOS and Android
- A mobile-first interface designed for thumbs, one-handed use, and bad connectivity
- Offline-tolerant behavior where it matters
- Testing on real devices, not just an emulator
- App-store submission or installable web app setup, end to end
- A handover covering compatibility needs and optional hourly maintenance
From idea to a phone near you
The same disciplined arc as every project I take on — no mystery, no vanishing act.
Discovery
We nail down who uses the app, on what phones, in what situations. A written scope and a fixed quote come out of it, so the budget is decided before the first commit.
Build
You get builds you can put on your own phone early and often. Each increment is testable in your hand, so feedback is about the real thing, not mockups.
Launch
Store listings, screenshots, review processes, or a PWA install path — I handle the release machinery and the inevitable review-feedback loop with you.
Support
Changes and maintenance, including operating-system compatibility work, are available at an agreed hourly rate. Monitoring can be purchased separately. I discuss the work with you before starting.
Questions I hear a lot
The things buyers ask before committing to a mobile project.
Native or cross-platform — which do I need?
It depends on your users, not on fashion. A well-made cross-platform app or an installable web app covers most business needs at a fraction of the cost of two native codebases. Truly native work earns its price when you need deep hardware access or top-of-the-frame graphics. Discovery ends with a recommendation and the reasoning behind it.
How much does a mobile app cost?
New projects are fixed-price, with a written scope and quote agreed after discovery and before development starts. Changes and maintenance can be provided at an agreed hourly rate. Because one codebase targets both platforms, a cross-platform project avoids the double cost of separate iOS and Android teams. Any work outside the original scope is discussed before it starts.
Do I need app stores at all?
Not always. If your app is meant for customers or staff you already talk to, an installable web app can skip the stores, their review cycles, and their fees entirely. When distribution genuinely needs the App Store or Play Store, I handle the submission process with you. The trade-offs are part of discovery, not an upsell.
Who owns the code?
You do — completely. When a project is paid for, the source code, configuration, and documentation I produced are yours, with no license fees and no lock-in. If you ever want the work continued by another developer, everything needed to pick it up is in the handover.
What happens when iOS and Android update?
Operating-system updates can require compatibility fixes. Changes and maintenance can be provided at an agreed hourly rate, with the work and rate discussed before I start. Monitoring is available if purchased separately. Ongoing compatibility work is not an unlimited inclusion in the initial project price; you choose which updates and improvements to commission.
How long does it take?
Scoped during discovery, in writing, alongside the quote. A focused app on one platform family is typically a matter of weeks; anything with accounts, payments, or deep device integration takes longer and is staged so you can test on your own phone from the first weeks.
Built to be used on the go
CourtWiz, the sports scheduling platform I built end to end, is designed for phones and laptops. The same care for a small screen goes into every mobile project.
Planning the system behind the app too? I also do web app development and API & integration work.
